Default how do runes really work?

I have a dumbass question. Am I able to apply a superior, major, AND minor ruin of domination, assuming they are on different pieces of armor?

No. They are not stackable. You'll just be helping yourself to needlessly spending money on those runes that you didn't need to.

Edit: You can only have one of any rune, spread throughout your armor. Meaning, you can only have one Domination.

You also cannot use runes from your secondary class. Meaning, you're stuck with Mesmer runes.

Yes, you can have mutliple DIFFERENT minor/major/superior runes.

An example would be:
1 Superior Expertise
1 Major Marksmanship
1 Major Beast Mastery
1 Superior Rune of Vigor

However, unless you run a build that can reduce damage a LOT, I STRONGLY advise against putting more than one Superior or Major rune at the same time. You're going to be losing over 100 hit points that way. A good way to offset that is to get headgear that supports the class you want to upgrade, and just get a minor to stack on that.

1 superior rune of illusion
1 superior rune of domination

YES! You can have runes that effect different attributes. However, you can only have *one* rune per piece of armor. Thus the max you can have is 5 runes (head, chest, arms, legs & feet) - I think. not sure if you can put runes in every professions headwear.. or if at all. I also don't know if you can put runes on shields/etc.

If you put 1 superior rune of illusion in your boots and a superior rune of domination in your leggings you will get the benefit from BOTH runes. If you try and put them both on the same armor, the rune you put in last will overwrite the first rune you put on the armor.

You can have minor, major & superior of 1 attribute on different armor's, however you will only gain benefit from the superior. The rest won't stack as the game takes the highest possible mod from any runes placed , and since superior is the highest mod.. thatsd the mod which will get used and the rest will be ignored (ie a waste of gold and "space")

Yes you can but remember superior runes EACH have -75. 2 superior runes = health -150. Best you can do to counter that is a superior vigor which is health +50. Go with Izzy on this. Get the headgear for domination and a major in domination. The rest I'd go minor, although it's nice to have headgear and major in storage for illusion .

Nah, I'd forego any Major Runes entirely. It's not worth having -50HP for just 2 extra attribute points. I'd rather take the -75HP hit for +3. The point is, just use minors for all gear except one Major/Superior.

That way, you won't be limping about with only 3/5ths of your total health invested in Runes. A Rune of Superior Vigor helps a bit, giving +50, and a weapon enhancement of +30 offsets one rune completely. But that's still -70 points. Personally, I'd take as little from HP as possible, while gaining the largest benefits.

For a lot of people, I'd say that equals:
1 Superior Rune of XXX
3 Minor Runes of AAA/BBB/CCC
1 Major/Superior Rune of Vigor
1 +1 Attribute Head Gear.
